Outstanding contributions to one or more of the following area(s): societal impact, service to the remanufacturing community and, scientific leadership are defining the Best Reman Ambassador of the year. Societal factors was one of the key factors that applied to the winner Thijs Jasink.
As Chief Operations Officer at Actronics and Chief Commercial Officer for Alec GmbH Thijs Jasink has served the remanufacturing sector since 2005 and both of the companies from the start, which are part of the ACT-group.
He takes every opportunity to make people aware of the option of remanufacturing and the benefits that go with it – partly for commercial reasons but also because he believes in the industry. In 2013 he was the mind behind the webinar ‘Making the case for remanufacturing’, one of the first webinars on the subject, appealing to garages and dealers to understand the value of remanufactured parts. In 2015 he was a key driver in ACtronics’ sponsorship of the Top Technician Award, which aims to bring more awareness to remanufacturing within the UK market.
Both Thijs and his team strive for better quality of remanufactured electronic components, ACtronics Ltd has recently received it’s ISO 9001 accreditation, the first organization within the ACT-group to achieve this. Also, Thijs is the driving force for Alec GmbH’s IATF16949 accreditation (expected completion 2019).
Recently he has joined the ReMaTec exhibition advisory committee. Thijs has shared his opinion and view with presentations at ReMaTec, Automechanika Birmingham, Automechanika Frankfurt, MechanEx, Circular economy events and other automotive fairs in several countries. ‘Traveling to one of our facilities to give a tour and/or presentation to visitors was never a problem,’ commented Karin Spieker – Assink - Marketing Manager ACtronics.
Being an ambassador for reman is not necessarily about having an official position in the industry – the judges believe that it can also be awarded to someone who is demonstrating passion and commitment for the industry, going beyond their role to do things they don’t have to do in order to benefit the reman as a whole, and communicating the benefits of reman. Thijs Jasink has achieved all of this and as one of the judges said, “What will make a difference to the industry is to have a lot of people like Thijs.”
“The RotY has given us a platform with much exposure. Especially with the new venture ALEC (as a fully owned subsidiary of the ACT-Group). I’ve had a lot of positive feedback and it shows that we are leading, and ahead of the game, when it comes to the reman of Electronic mobility components. Also, it builds bridges between remanufacturers and knowledge should/can be shared. The joint effort of all remanufacturers also means opening doors to the OEM and the Tier 1 suppliers.”
