The worldwide focus on sustainability and the circular economy, in combination with the current large price increases of raw materials, require sustainable manufacturing methods. The remanufacturing industry has the knowledge and expertise to produce sustainably and improve the product life cycle.
Rematec is the global platform for the remanufacturing industry that connects industry experts with knowledge institutes and governmental bodies. Rematec is dedicated to serve the industry and the remanufacturing community by sharing stories, expert views and advice via our (online and in-person) events year-round.

✔️ OCTOBER 2024
Mapping the EU-China Circular Economy Roadmap
Advancing Sustainable Battery Ecosystems and Remanufacturing
Thursday 30 May 2024
The transition to the circular economy is a global challenge and requires major shifts in all countries around the world. Brussels and Beijing have agreed on a joint roadmap for greater collaboration on plastics, battery value chains and remanufacturing. The new blueprint defines the actions that both the EU and China will take to implement under the EU-China Memorandum of Understanding on the circular economy. Closer and continuous engagement with China is key to achieving not only our circular economy, but also other shared environmental ambitions.

The Impressive Scope of Remanufacturing
Tuesday 4 April 2023 | 11:00 am – 12:00 pm ET | 5:00 pm CET – 6:00 pm CEST
For many, remanufacturing may be associated with the automotive and heavy-duty industries. But in reality remanufacturing occurs in a variety of industries which include consumer products, medical equipment, and imaging products and consumables. Join us as we hear from leaders from these diverse industries discuss the ‘state-of-play’ in their respective sectors, how the policy landscape is shaping the transition to greater circularity, how remanufacturing has the capability to meet regional needs through product and business adaptability, and the future outlook of remanufacturing.

Q & A Session
What is the impact of EVs for the remanfacturing industry?
7 November 2022 | 15:00-16:00 CET
Let’s follow up! The Rematec webinar ‘Impact & Opportunities of Electric Vehicles (EVs) for the remanufacturing industry’ will be followed up by a Q&A session.
The webinar attracted many industry professionals, so not all questions about the financial and environmental benefits could be answered by our industry panellists Mike Hague-Morgan (Autocraft Solutions Group), Jan Koller (Fraunhofer IPA) and Gregor Ohnemüller (University of Bayreuth).
Questions like: what are the legal issues that need to be resolved? When do you see the remanufacturing of EV components become business viable? What will be the core repairs/modules for Reman in BEV in the future? And/or is there any chemical "fatigue" issue that could prevent remanufacturing?
To give you more insights in the innovations, developments, impact, struggles and opportunities, we therefore give a follow up on this hot topic. Through a Q&A session, our panellists have all the attention for your questions.
Programme

EYES ON ELECTRIC VEHICLES
Impact & Opportunities of Electric Vehicles for the Remanfacturing Industry
27 September 2022 | 10.00-11.00 CEST
In July’22 the European Parliament lawmakers voted to support an effective EU ban on the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2035. This decision will speed up Europe’s shift towards electric vehicles (EVs). As a result of this important electrical paradigm shift, and in order to prepare new strategies, remanufacturers must follow the new technical developments closely and start immediately to study and research these new systems and their new components. Short-term production changes are not yet necessary although the changes may come sooner than proposed above.
What to expect
During the REMATEC Webinar – Eyes on EVs you learn what the impact of electrification will be in the near and far future. Experts from the industry and leading knowledge institutes will share their views on the opportunities and challenges for remanufacturing. What are the near future predictions towards Electric Vehicles (EVs) and what is its impact to the remanufacturing industry? How to deal with obstacles as high-voltage batteries and the logistics of classified dangerous goods? Who will pick up the opportunities? Or is it simply too early – or late – to get involved?

Eyes on China
Opportunities for the Remanfacturing Industry in China
28 JUNE 2022 | 10.00-11.00 CEST
China is the largest automotive market worldwide. However the Chinese remanufacturing industry is still very young. Recently the Chinese government has announced new policies for the remanufacturing industry. They decided to liberalise the bonded remanufacturing of key auto parts such as automobile engines. This creates great opportunities for the international remanufacturing industry to do business and share their knowledge and experience.
What to expect
During the Rematec webinar, you will learn from Mr. Xie Jianjun, Secretary General of CPRA, what this new Chinese policy means for the remanufacturing industry. Following this keynote, well-known experts, as Clemens Ortgies, Julia Ma, Mike Yu and Huang Zhiyong, will discuss the impact of this new policy on the domestic remanufacturing business. What are the most important changes? What are the new opportunities for the international companies to enter the largest automotive market in the world? Based upon their experience our panellists will share with you what the do’s and don’t’s are of doing business in the Chinese remanufacturing industry, and they will give you advise on how to start. This 'Eyes on China' webinar is moderated by Rajiv Ramchandra, founder of Re:CREATe.
