Nestled in the heart of the Japanese mountains and founded in 1967, the town of Omachi is where the head office and SHINE factory are located. SHINE was originally started as an electrical service station in the countryside and now has become one of the leading remanufactures of auto electrical parts in Japan. SHINEtakes unusable auto electric parts such as Starters, Alternators and AC Compressors and brings them back to brand new quality. It still remains a family business and their current president is now the 3rd generation to carry on the tradition of remanufacturing.
SHINE worked hard and developed itself to a successful remanufacturing business which did not exist in Japan before. ‘’Top motivational factors to innovate is the competitive advantage,’’ commented Vice President Akira Ikeda. ‘We are proud to have developed in-house business innovation and also, we worked closely with the Japanese government and educational institutions to promote Ecological and Economical benefits for the reman sector’.
Their three major innovations were the factors that convinced the jury panel of rewarding SHINE with the award:
- Same Day Production – resulted in a 97% delivery rate
- No Core Surcharge – which allowed customers to conduct business without worrying about additional stocking costs and taxes
- Providing customers with a 3 year no-questions warranty which gives them the confidence to order our parts without having to worry about failure issues.
The SHINE reman operation is a real example of business process innovation with a strong customer focus, the judging panel thought.
