Winner: Autocraft Drivetrain Solutions - Co-owner and Commercial Director Mike Hague-Morgan with the award
Autocraft Drivetrain Solutions Limited is Europe’s largest independent engine remanufacturer, supplying manufacturers such as Ford, Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo and the aftermarket. Other services of ADS includes engine remanufacturing to OE quality standards, EV battery remanufacturing for OEMs, 3rd party engine sales to the aftermarket and OEMs, and PTWA/RSW thermal bore spray for both newly manufactured and recovery of cylinder blocks. Based in Grantham, Lincolnshire in the UK, Autocraft was founded in the 60’s and has grown to be a leading provider of engine related manufacturing and engineering services.
Mike Hague-Morgan submitted their application in a very competitive category of the RotY awards. Even with the variety of processes to choose from, the jury decided to reward ADS. With a core business in remanufacturing of internal combustion engines(ICE), ADS impressed the jury with an example of a positive collaboration with an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to create a solution to a key issue.
12 years ago Autocraft teamed up with their largest customer, Ford to develop the PTWA process (Plasma Transfer Wire Arc) and the other processes needed to enable ADS to create a process for the remanufacture of modern cylinder blocks. ‘’This was a decisive factor,’’ commented one jury member - not least because of its size and the amount of time that it had been going also because of its positive effect on the environment, which was carefully measured. ‘’For an independent company, it’s a feat to pull this off’’.
“We would encourage all remanufacturers to enter the RotY awards. These are hotly contested awards but if you win, it is worth it. Our inboxes have been full of fantastic messages of support and congratulations from customers past and present as well as colleagues from across our reman industry. It is a great marketing tool but not just externally. Our team at Autocraft are thrilled with winning the award and many of them have played an important part in developing our PTWA technology for which our award was received. It has been wonderful for our team to have the recognition they deserve by winning this award and we are now hungry to keep developing new processes and to see how we can win RotY again in the future.”
