During the annual FIRM assembly in Istanbul the association representing the interests of engine remanufacturers and rebuilders has decided to move their offices from its location in Coesfeld to the headquarter in Brussels. FIRM will aim to concentrate all resources there, and the office will be led by Mrs. Frédérique Daublain. Daublain has been working with Belgian association TRAXIO since 2011 and has extensive experience in the market.
Part of the reason for the move to Brussels is the association’s intent to increase the capacities of their lobby work in EU organizations. To this extent they have attracted Mr. Guillaume Casanova who will be taking on a central role in this process.
FIRM intents to focus on a number of projects, amongst which the release of a new issue of "EU Insights", they shall be closely involved in the monitoring of issues relating to engine remanufacturing in GEAR 2030, the High Level Group chaired by the European Commission that aims to develop recommendations to reinforce both the short-term and long-term competitiveness of the European automotive industry.
Other regulations on FIRM’s radar are the proposal for a regulation on requirements relating to emission limits and type-approval for internal combustion engines for non-road mobile machinery (2014/0268/COD) and the proposal for a stage V non-road emission regulation (COM/2014/581), as well as achieving a strong presence in a variety of committees and working groups such as the European Remanufacturing Network and CLEPA Reman Working Group.
